Park Shoot

We were meant to have this shoot last week but instead moved it to yesterday. The park shoot is meant to be a ind of playful representation of a wedding in the way that a child might imagine it, very ethereal with mismatched outfits and lots of flowers. We shot the wedding scene under some arches in the park made of branches, and also filmed the couple on a slide and swings. I had originally planned to have the "altar" be the jungle gym in the park, but as we were going to set up the shot it just didn't seem big or colourful enough, instead we opted for the arches, and with the way it is shot it doesn't really seem like it is part of the park, but a separate space of its own. Given that this is a dream sequence, this isn't the end of the world, and hopefully the costume change being present for this whole scene, it will make sense having all of these elements together to create one scene that is cohesive.

I decided to shoot this scene very warm, with one camera using a blur lens for the entire scene. My goal with this was to have it glow similarly to golden hour, with the light building up to the final scene. The brightness of this scene may make me have to regrade the church scene to be event more vibrant, since this was meant to be the the first dream sequence, with the church coming last. Looking at all of the footage now, I'm not sure the order makes sense. Of course, with the live editing approach I'm taking with the film, in different variations of the film the location order can change to vary the timeline that they take. Since this live event is the version that is being graded, I will have to make a decision about what makes sense for the people marking the event to see a progression that makes sense. Of course, I'm still aiming to have an experimental approach to the storytelling, but there does have to be some sort of linear progression that makes sense not only for the story, but also aesthetically. Having a scene at the start be very experimental and dreamy while the big final scene seems more traditionally shot narrative wise may not make much sense. Of course, until I see how all of these scenes interact with each other as well as the animations I'll be adding on, and with the lightshows, will show me what really does work and what doesn't.
