Reevaluating the Title Sequence
As you can see in my very poorly drawn storyboard, I originally intended to have about a 50/50 mix of found footage and my own footage, as well as some animation. The key inspiration I'm using for this is the opening sequences of both Wonderwall (1968) and Psych Out (also 1968), because of their used of mixed media and visuals to create a title sequence that goes beyond just showing the characters.
Since my filming day yesterday got rained out and both actors won't be available at the same time until after the video is due, I've had to pivot and rethink my plans. Since the last shot I had planned of them kissing in the green light isn't possible, I think I'll try and make a small animated version of it. I'm not quite sure how I'll do this but I think I'll have the two figures just still and then have either some green found footage behind them or have a small animation of moving texture (maybe a paisley or something?) I will still be using the found footage I originally planned foe the beginning shots with the title, and maybe still a zoom out to the poster being on the wall. I don't think I'll have time to animate it peeling off of the wall but I'll still have it superimposed on, if the actress is available to film that shot.
Today I will also be working on seeing how difficult it will be to draw that sketchy animation of them walking through the city, which should be quite simple as the city will stay the same for every frame, it will just be the two characters moving forward and the light twinkling. If I can't get my drawing tablet to work for this I'm pretty confident I'll be able to make a decent sketch using my mouse and photoshop. I'll also be watching a following a few more animation tutorials as yesterday I only managed to get through one, however this means I'm slowly becoming more familiar with using Adobe Animate, so I'll keep going even through it's quite slow progress.
While I don't have a rigid plan for this I'm happy with the shots that I do have planned out, I'm hoping to get this version done by the deadline, along with the pitch, and then make a second edit of the title sequence with more live action footage in it.
